Mehr Nisa (Noor Jahan) was the daughter of Mirza Ghayas. She is the fourth Mughal ruler Nooruddin Jahangir. She was the beloved wife from 1559 to 1627. She was Jahangir. She lived eighteen years after his death. And died in 1645 at the age of 72.

Noor Jahan ruled the heart of the king of India for years. Her name was also named on the coins of Jahangir. This tomb had been built in a four years span of her life. It cost three lakh rupees.

Location of Tomb of Noor Jahan

The tomb is built on 158 square feet. The square building of the tomb is 134 feet. The height is 19 feet 4 inches from the 4th. All the rooms with Qalboti ceilings were adorned with stone marble. Which was destroyed in the Sikh covenant government.

Black with marble on the inner floor. Decorated with a yellow stone. In The middle of the tomb is a floor adorned with marble, which has two graves. One is Queen Noor Jahan and the other is her daughter Ladli Begum. This floor is made by Hakeem Ajmal Khan of Delhi in 1912.

During Ranjit Singh’s reign, the whole tomb and its decorative stones were uprooted. And it was ordered to dig part of the underground. Wherever Noor Jahan and his daughter Ladli Begum’s grave was. What Ranjit Singh found in his room were two coffins which were hung in the room by iron bars.

The hooks were uprooted and the coffins were buried underground, a great insult to Queen Noor Jahan.
