Neelum Valley Azad Kashmir


Neelum Valley, also known as the “Heaven of Earth,” is one of Azad Kashmir’s most picturesque locations. It is about 100 km from Muzaffarabad, the capital of Azad Kashmir. The Neelum Valley is positioned in Muzaffarabad’s north and runs parallel to the Kaghan Valley. Its mountains are 4000 meters above sea level and covered in snow. The valley is covered with dense forest and has rivers and streams with clean water. There are two ways to enter the valley: one is from Kaghan Valley, and the other is from Noori Top. It is also accessible by numerous additional minor passes in addition to these two. Neelum Valley is famous for its minerals. Local fruits like Apples, Apricots, Walnuts, and Plums are famous for their unique taste.

Kutton Waterfall

Kutton is a small tourist point at a distance of 82 km from Muzaffarabad. It is a beautiful picnic point. Kutton waterfall is the most beautiful waterfall in Neelum valley. It is among the most well-known tourist attractions in the area. The actual name of this waterfall is the Kundal Shahi waterfall as it is located in Kundal Shahi village in Neelum valley. Because its water is coming from Kutton that’s why it is called Kutton waterfall.

Sharda Valley

Sharda is another beautiful spot in the Neelum Valley at an altitude of 6,499 feet on the foot of Shardan Peak and at a distance of 136 km from Muzaffarabad. It is the most attractive hill station in the Neelum Valley. There are historical ruins of Hindu temples dedicated to the goddess Sharda. In the ninth century, it continues to serve as a focal place for Buddhism and Hinduism.


On the bank of the Neelum River and just on the LOC, there is a beautiful valley called Keran at an altitude of 5,000 feet. This location offers a beautiful view of the Neelum River and excellent fishing opportunities. Upper Keran is a more picturesque tiny settlement at the summit from which you can see the mountain ranges of Kashmir, which is controlled by India.
